Search Engine Optimization

Helping people find you

The goal of site optimization is to make your site visible. When you improve your ranking in search engines, people searching for your product or service are more likely to find you. Our optimization service follows a proven process to achieve improved rankings.

Benchmarking

Our first step is to benchmark your site’s performance in search results. Our report shows your site‘s search engine results based on an initial set of keywords, the company name and URL. We also provide take a snapshot of current visitor behavior. These benchmark statistics let us measure the impact of site optimization downstream. This reporting continues throughout our efforts. We provide monthly traffic analysis of page views, unique visitors, dwell time, search engine referrals and keyword popularity.

Analysis

We use measurements of search engine spider behavior (the automated programs that index websites) to uncover the current keywords assigned to your site by the search engines. We also analyze your competition, comparing their keywords, performance and html to yours. This provides significant insight into the keywords used in your industry and often helps in creating a test set of keywords.

Optimization

Our next step is to improve the hidden coding on your site. We validate the html coding of your home page so that it is properly structured for search engine bots and their inquiries, and select up to ten “landing pages” for optimization. This provides keyword flexibility so that some keyword searches and search engine bot results are directed to different areas of your site. This includes creating effective keywords, titles and “meta” descriptions for these key pages, as well as a review of the robots.txt files and robots tags for your site.

Submissions

While the content and tagging of your site are clearly critical, it can also be helpful to have a sitemap, especially one that meets industry best practices. As part of our submissions process, we develop a sitemap using the XML Sitemap Protocol -- letting search engines know about areas of your website that are available for crawling. We then submit your site to up to 60 search engines and targeted directories and follow up on these submissions to be sure they are affecting the search results of users.

Linking

Google tallies the number of sites that have links to your pages and takes this ranking into account when producing search results. Popular sites (measured by cross-linking) are displayed first in search results lists.Since appearing high on these lists is the goal of search engine optimization, the degree to which your site is linked to by others is critical. To achieve this, we analyze your linked-to status and contact websites that complement your company and request that they link to you. In addition to increasing search engine rankings, these inbound links generate referral traffic and increase brand awareness. We also create a webpage for your site that invites and facilitates cross-linking, analyze competitors’ back-linking and guarantee three new back-links a month.
